La Dame Derrière is a potent mix of sensuality, soft curves, and sapphic angst. This fiery femme has traveled all over North America snatching crowns and stealing girlfriends. Queerly is inspired by Black shake-dancers, strippers, and hoochie-coochie girls across generations. She is an internationally renowned ecdysiast, who’s known for snatching crowns and taking titles. Queerly loves the smell of books, practicing sneaky splits, and the feeling of your money on her skin. Grand Master Funk 2024 from What the Funk?! An All BIPOC Burlesque Fest!
HOST:
- Dee Twenty, at age ten, they walked into the Royal London Wax Museum, saw a grotesque version of Queen Elizabeth II, and promptly vomited on the gift shop floor. When you were ten, Dee Twenty was that guy in the big tank at Undersea Gardens, feeding the giant octopus daily at 11 am and 3 pm. When they were definitely the legal drinking age, Dee Twenty ate a peanut off the floor of Big Bad Johns and it forever changed them. When you were definitely the legal drinking age, Dee Twenty bought you a round of Praire Fire and Smirnoff Ices at Red Jacket. Some of these stories may possibly be true, but who's to say really? All that we know for sure is that Dee Twenty has been clowning around on burlesque stages since 2014 and has deep-cut Victoria-based lore flowing through their veins, so you better get ready to cheer, scream, and wave your Kermit arms with wild abandon!
In addition to enjoying our headliner and features, the Saturday Showcase will feature performers from across Canada and the US.
