Join us for Island Science Day on Saturday, October 3, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Patton Center at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute as we celebrate 85 years of marine science on the Texas coast.
This free event is open to all ages and offers a unique opportunity to explore interactive exhibits, meet scientists and students, tour research facilities, and learn more about the innovative research happening along the Gulf and coastal environments. Founded in 1941, UTMSI is the oldest and one of the most significant marine research institutions on the Texas coast, advancing science, education, and outreach focused on our coastal ecosystems.
This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve, a partnership dedicated to the research, stewardship, and protection of the Mission-Aransas Estuary. As one of the nation’s National Estuarine Research Reserves, it plays a critical role in conserving coastal habitats and supporting environmental education.
Additional details will be posted on the event website (https://utmsi.utexas.edu/event/island-science-day-port-aransas/) as they become available.
