Isidore String Quartet and Jeremy Denk, piano
Friends of Chamber Music opens its 73rd season on Sunday, September 27, with an extraordinary collaboration between the internationally acclaimed Isidore String Quartet and celebrated pianist Jeremy Denk. The 4:00 p.m. Newman Center performance brings together one of chamber music's most exciting young ensembles with one of today's most imaginative and respected pianists.
Winners of the prestigious 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Isidore String Quartet has earned international praise for its vibrant performances and adventurous programming. Joining the quartet is MacArthur "Genius" Fellow, Avery Fisher Prize recipient, and New York Times bestselling author Jeremy Denk, making his fourth appearance on the Friends of Chamber Music series.
Together they will perform two beloved masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire—Schumann's Piano Quintet in E-flat Major and Brahms's Piano Quintet in F Minor—along with Webern's lyrical Langsamer Satz, heard for the first time on the Friends of Chamber Music series.
“Mr. Denk, clearly, is a pianist you want to hear no matter what he performs.“ – The New York Times
