About this Event
After sold-out shows and enthusiastic responses from audiences and press alike, The Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation extends its “Isadora Goes Chelsea!” immersive pop-up performances adding new offerings including historical gallery tours, lectures and educational events from March 13 to March 23, 2025, in Chelsea, New York. (Links to educational events found below!)
Join us on March 20 to 23 to experience immersive pop-up performances merging Duncan’s timeless dance style and repertoire with Chelsea’s artistic energy, featuring Lori Belilove & The Isadora Duncan Dance Company and NEW guest collaborators.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING: “I’ll put it this way, dance is not my favorite performance art form to watch. I attend a few, and sometimes it doesn’t reach me much or at all. This was one of the most enthralling dance performances I’ve ever seen…”

Enter a world of silks and ribbons, flowers and fancy as you step inside a pop-up Chelsea gallery (pictured in the photos above and below) dedicated to the living art of Duncan Dance. The setting echoes the avant-garde “happenings” of mid-20th-century New York, blurring the lines between performer and audience.
Attendees will be taken on a gallery tour by Artistic Director Lori Belilove, viewing framed artwork and archival photographs, video projections, curious and classic quotes by Isadora and learning about her story and contributions to culture and art as the "mother of modern dance." Then, the "living art" of Duncan dancers will animate the space with stunning dancing, enhanced by dramatic lighting.
WHAT THE PRESS IS SAYING: “I enthusiastically applaud the company’s efforts to try something new and to make Duncan’s work more relevant—especially as it embarks on a three-year celebration of the choreographer’s 150th birthday.”
"...as you adjust to the nuances of the vocabulary, you start to notice the so-called mother of modern dance’s ingenuity. The dancers keep a bend in their knees that gives a floating feeling to their steps and skips. Their gaze is always considered… Their arms are weightless…Duncan’s style looks particularly natural on Hayley Rose Brasher and Emily D’Angelo, both who’ve been with the company for a long time. With her delicate footwork and studied gestures, apprentice Brandy Brown also stands out.” - Chava Pearl Lansky for the Fjord Review

The March performances will feature live music, including collaborating vocalist Amber Evans and Indian Harmonium Shruti Box, with a program of Duncan pieces set to music by Chopin, Brahms and Gluck, as well as choreography by Belilove, complimented by music by contemporary composers Brian Eno, Rene Aubry and Max Richter.
Performance space is wheelchair accessible. Reception to follow.
