Trad session anchored by Fiona Doyle & Friends in the Ladies Lounge at the Buffalo Club. Free event!Fiona will be joined by Tama De Búrca, a traditional musician from Dublin, Ireland, specialising in uilleann pipes and guitar. He began his musical journey at a young age with Craobh Naithí CCE, later studying uilleann pipes at Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy and Na Píobairí Uilleann under renowned tutors including Maitiu Ó Casaide and Harry Bradley.
A self-taught guitarist, Tama developed his accompaniment style through years of performing, and has worked as a full-time musician in Dublin, playing five nights a week before relocating to Perth in November. His music has taken him across Ireland, Europe, and now Australia, with performances in the Netherlands, Estonia, Switzerland, and beyond.
Tama has featured on national and international media including RTÉ’s Céilí House and ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show, and has performed at major festivals such as Electric Picnic and Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
And Jane Meehan, a multi-instrumentalist and music educator from Dundalk, Co. Louth (Ireland). She has a bachelor’s degree in applied music and a Master’s degree in Performance of Irish Traditional Music (fiddle). Jane has travelled extensively performing and teaching across the globe at conferences and festivals. Fiddle playing style inspiration is also drawn from whistle and pipe playing. Fiona Doyle’s family hails from Dublin and Fiona was a student of Sean Doherty and the late Ray Deely at Comhaltas growing up in Perth. Fiona has played the Irish wooden flute and whistles with many local Irish trad bands and is a founding member of the trad group The Hár.
Irish stew and home-made soda bread available to pre-purchase $10 or pay on the night if available.
