The sound system culture is exploding around Australia, and we are so excited to bring one of the major players from the UK underground to Northcote Social Club on Melbourne Cup Eve.
The Vanguard of DUB!
Iration Steppas is one of the most important sound systems to come out of the UK.
A foundation of the Leeds underground bass music scene, Mark Iration and Dennis Rootikal met in the early 1990’s, and the rest is history. Iration are best known for their legendary Subdub events in Leeds, as well as touring all over the UK and Europe on an almost constant basis.
Iration have inspired the newer more progressive style of reggae and dub, paving the way for a generation of new sound systems and dub producers such as O.B.F, King Alpha, Dubkasm and many more.
Iration have built a proud discography with albums such as Original Dub D.A.T., Dubs from the High Regionz and Dub Arena - as well as many singles, and they continue to produce bass driven music, more recently in a tight combination with Rico from O.B.F.
For the past 30 years Iration Steppas have pushed boundaries on sound system technology, continually I'm proving to stay at the top of their game, and have collected one of the deepest vaults of dubplates and specials of any sound system. Mark is a natural entertainer - and he will be bringing the fire to Northcote Social Club on Melbourne Cup Eve 2026.
The kitchen will be open the bar will be stacked and so will the dub box of Mark Iration.

South Weight Hi-Fi is lutruwita/Tasmania’s first hand-made custom-built reggae and bass sound system, crafted
by DJs/selectors Paul McGough and Tommy Ray.
Rooted in the local music community, they bring together Dub, Reggae, and Roots culture with Hip-Hop, Jungle
and Drum ‘n’ Bass influences.
The name South Weight Hi-Fi reflects both geography and purpose.
South speaks to their home state, Tasmania - the southern state.
While Weight emphasises the tactile power of deep bass frequencies that custom bass culture systems are built
to deliver.
Hi-Fi highlights their dedication to high-quality sound, paying homage to the precision of classic sound systems.
The system itself is a 4-way, bi-amped type and consists of multiple speaker cabinets.
These are stacked together to form one large stack. However, the system is modular and can be compatible with
small, medium or large installations.
This is the mighty South Weight HiFi and they are coming to bring the fire to Northcote Social Club.
