IOW's 30th Year Anniversary and Honoring Sister Janet Harris
About this Event
Join Us for an Extraordinary Evening
For three decades, InsideOUT Writers (IOW) has demonstrated that when individuals are given the opportunity to be heard, supported, and believed in, transformation is possible. Since its founding in 1996, the organization has empowered thousands of justice-impacted youth and adults through creative writing, mentorship, education, and comprehensive reentry support, creating pathways toward healing, personal growth, and lasting success.
The IOW 30th Anniversary Celebration will commemorate this extraordinary milestone while honoring the visionary leadership and enduring legacy of Sister Janet Harris and her unwavering commitment to justice, compassion, and human dignity. Her vision laid the foundation for an organization that has become a respected leader in arts-based rehabilitation, reentry, diversion, and youth prevention programming. Her legacy continues to inspire thousands of young people and the professionals who serve them.
Throughout the evening, guests will hear heartfelt reflections and stories from individuals who have played meaningful roles throughout IOW’s 30-year journey, including Scott Budnick, Javier Stauring, Mark Salzman, Duane Noriyuki, and IOW Alumni. Together, their voices will bring IOW’s history to life. They will share memories from the organization’s earliest days, stories of transformation and impact, and reflections on the relationships and community that have sustained this work for three decades. Their perspectives will help make the evening a deeply personal celebration of where IOW began, how far we have come, and the legacy we will carry forward.
More than an anniversary celebration, this event will serve as a powerful testament to the resilience of the individuals InsideOUT Writers serves and to the transformative power of education, creativity, and community.
