**UPDATE: A tailgate location has now been chosen for Lots 3&4 on the SE corner of campus! However, we still do not have a tailgate start time as ESPN has elected to not announce a TV kickoff time until next Monday the 23rd. Once that kickoff time is announced we can announce how soon U of H lots will open and how soon we can start our tailgate party!

Yes, Iowa State Football is coming down for its first time to play the Houston Cougars on Saturday, Sept. 28th! Before the game begins the Austin club will be co-hosting a tailgate party with the DFW club and once again selling our fresh smoked BBQ for our Austin club charity. And even before that the Houston alumni club will be hosting a Friday night happy hour for ISU fans!

FAQ:
** Where do I buy game tickets to sit among ISU fans?
Buy them from the DFW Club's website at:
http://www.dfwcyclones.org/store/c2/football.
They are great seats for just $40 each (incl. fees) in the lower tier of TDECU Stadium. By Univ. of Houston policy all tickets will only be issued digitally and cannot be printed to paper. Your tickets will be transferred directly from U of H to the email you specified in your order with the DFW Club which will also contain instructions how to present them with a mobile device at the gate.
Understand that parking is not included with your ticket, all sales are final, and this is rain or shine event that will only be refunded if the game is actually cancelled. Ticket questions go to [email protected].
** Now tell me about this tailgate!
This will be a BYOT (Bring-Your-Own-Tailgate) format as U of H does not rent large private fenced areas on their campus like the tailgates Austin and DFW clubs have both hosted in the past. The clubs will be setting up a "home base" in Lot 3 on southeast campus where you can buy a $30 parking spot close by. There is no charge to come join us! This will be a family-friendly event, and we will announce additional details to ticket and/or BBQ buyers early in the game week to your email on file. There will be a convenient free shuttle from the north entrance of Lot 3&4. U of H does require all tailgating in lots be closed down shortly after the game ends. The DFW Club will also be selling swag and raffle tickets for their club scholarship for incoming ISU students from the North Texas area.
** Will there be food offered at this tailgate?
Would it be an Austin club tailgate without Texas BBQ? 😉 Yes, fresh brisket, chicken, pork and a side will be smoked up by a fellow ISU alum and Austin team for sale to raise funds for our Austin charities including our new Austin club scholarship fund for incoming ISU freshman from the Greater Austin area! A BBQ plate includes a bottle of water, and you are encouraged to buy a $25 plate in advance thru the DFW club website so the team has an accurate count to buy enough food to prepare. Therefore the price will rise even further on game day. Food questions go to [email protected].
** What is the tailgate beverage policy?
Due to U of H and Texas permit policies alcoholic beverages cannot be sold on campus or included in the food price at our tailgate, so plan on parking near us as early as possible to bring your own. No bottles or glass are allowed in the campus lots and do not carry containers off the lot per city ordinance.
** And there is a Friday pre-gameday party in town?
Of course! The Houston alumni club is hosting an evening party on Friday the 27th at the Porch Swing Pub (their new gamewatch HQ) in west-central Houston not far from convenient hotels if needed. This venue does have a full kitchen and has adequate free parking nearby. More details will be provided in follow-ups to your email on file.
