Join Iowa Author, Nick Holmberg at Central Library to hear about his books and experience as a working writer! Nick Holmberg earned his Master’s in creative writing at The City College of New York, where his studies of Latinx magic realist and African American literatures began. His first novel, The Emergent, won a National Indie Excellence Award for the Best New (Debut) Fiction in 2021-22. He has lived and worked in his native California, as well as South Korea, Illinois, and Texas and now resides in Des Moines.
He is currently at work on his next project, a novella and five short stories tentatively titled Anxiety and Other Comedies. He also has an outline and several sketches for his next full-length novel, a tale of expat misadventures in South Korea, tentatively titled American Dog-baby (미국 개 아기).
