Opening and Walkthrough with the Artist: Tuesday, June 16, 2026, 6-9 PM
On view: June 17- 20, 2- 7 PM
Portuguese artist Inês Barros works between sculpture, ecological research, and speculative design, creating wearable devices that place the body in direct relation to living environments.
During her residency at SomoS, Barros is developing sculptural garments for the waterside terrain of Berlin's Urbanhafen around Admiralbrücke. Conceived as ecological prostheses, these works use heat, moisture, balance, and movement to connect ordinary bodily actions with processes of growth, composting, soil aeration, and seed dispersal.
Her upcoming solo exhibition "Soft Frictions" explores a productive tension between care and disturbance, asking what forms of ecological participation become possible when human comfort, bodily efficiency, and environmental needs do not fully align.
