Invitation to the launch of the Institute of AI Education (AIE)

York St John University is working in partnership with the AIE and are proud to be hosting this event in our Creative Centre.

Your attendance is requested, not only as a guest, but as a like-minded voice committed to transforming how every child in England learns and thrives in an increasingly AI-powered world.

This event is an opportunity to discover:

• An innovative national approach: a research-led Hub and Spoke model, based in York, designed to embed AI literacy and agency within every classroom. For every child, teacher and parent
• Pioneering academic partnership: a doctoral programme in AI literacy education in collaboration with York St John University
• Meaningful outcomes: AI literacy concepts interwoven throughout the curriculum through active support for teachers, informed with the voice of children and parents, across all Stages

Collectively, we’re striving to build a shared ambition for the future of AI literacy education starting initially in the North and then moving nationally and globally. Your ideas, experience and insights are essential in shaping what comes next.

The AIE is a work in progress by design. Our launch event invites you to contribute from day one, embedding your insight and experience into a national movement that is shaped by many voices and focused on the future of every child.

AI and teacher training in the University of Manchester primary PGCE programme

This workshop discussed the emerging themes and recommendations from the first year of a three-year longitudinal research project exploring the integration of AI tools within the University of Manchester primary PGCE programme. The research examined how generative AI technology, specifically TeachMateAI (TMAI), can be responsibly integrated into teacher training. The research draws on perspectives from trainee teachers, Headteachers, mentors in schools and staff who train teachers at the university.

From Theory to Practice: Early Learning from a School-Based AI Literacy Pilot

This workshop is delivered by 3 teachers in York primary schools who are participating in the AIE/YSJ research pilot to investigate interweaving AI literacy and critical thinking throughout the existing curriculum.
