About Our Event: The Ambassador Series
The Ambassador Series connects our young international community with the leaders of the diplomatic corps stationed in Israel. Each event allows us the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Ambassadors from around the globe for a reception and open discussions on worldwide issues related to Israel, its place in the international community, and relationships with its allies.
About Our Speaker: Ambassador Frédéric Journès
Ambassador Frédéric Journès, born October 25th, 1968, has served as Ambassador of France to Israel since August 2023. Prior to this appointment, he was Ambassador of France to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from September 2019 to July 2023. From 2016 to 2019, he served as Director of International, Strategic and Technological Affairs at the General Secretariat for Defence and National Security in the Prime Minister's Office in Paris. Between 2013 and 2016, he was Director of International Relations and Governor at the International Atomic Energy Agency within the Office of the Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Commissioner in Saclay. His earlier diplomatic career includes serving as Deputy Director for Strategic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012-2013), Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Kabul (2010-2012), Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Athens (2007-2010), and First Secretary at the Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations in New York (2003-2007). Ambassador Journès is a graduate of the National Administration School (ENA, 1998), holds a Master's Degree in Management from the School of Lyon (1991), and is an Associate Professor of Geography (1991). A native French speaker, he is fluent in English and has independent proficiency in German and Italian. He has served as a member of the Editorial Board of the Strategic Defence Review (2017) and as Administrator of Universcience (2014-2020), and is a Knight of the National Order of Merit.
