Invisible to Visible: Environment, History, & Discovery (Class+Show)
The environment is an extra character in any improv scene, who will always agree with you and always support you. Starting from a foundation of using real props, you will learn the hows and whys of using complex, fleshed-out environments to make discoveries, build character, express emotion and relationship history, get out of your head, and find comfort in silence.
Class dates: Sundays, August 25-November 17 (10 classes), 2:30-5 PM
Performance dates: Saturdays, November 23 & December 7

About Theatre Momentum:
We are the ONLY theater in Chicago dedicated to grounded, dramatic improvisation. Dramatic improv is useful for all actors- scripted, dramatic, comedic, everyone. It is incredibly helpful for scripted actors, to find intense, immediate moments, to be able to respond to directions without judgment, and to stay focused in the moment. It helps all improvisors get deeper, more layered characters and 3-dimensional stories that feel like a scripted play.
About the instructor:
Tony Rielage is Theatre Momentum's Artistic Director and Head Instructor. He has been performing, directing, and producing improv theatre since 1992, with the past 15 years focused entirely on grounded, dramatic improv. He has trained at iO Theater, the Annoyance Theatre, and the Playground Theater, among others, and founded TM’s predecessor workshop, Workshop-in-Progress. His training style centers around an outside-in approach focused on neurology and psychology, leading to improv about vulnerable human beings acting naturally, bravely, and honestly.
