Inventors' Club

This event is now taking place at the British Library's Business and IP Centre. There will be no ZOOM option. The club meets regularly on the last Monday of the month.

Great ideas can change the world!

However, whilst lots of us often spot the potential for a new product or a new piece of technology, the harsh realities of research and development, prototyping, manufacturing and distribution often mean that few of those ideas make it to market.

At the event, we will be talking to innovators who have already brought their products to market or who just have a “new idea” to discuss. Join us to learn about the journey, the problems to overcome and useful tips about bringing a new product to market.

Bob Lindsey

A Chartered Engineer with a wide experience of marketing and business management, who has spent over twenty years advising entrepreneurs and small businesses on getting their new products to market. He was part of the team which set up the Inventors' Club at Kingston University in 2005, and he regularly runs Innovation Clinics at the British Library.

Mark Sheahan

The Founder and Owner of Compgen Ltd and Culgen Ltd and the Chairman at Morgan Goodwin Ltd. Mark is a valued collaborator of the Business & IP Centre and for over 13 years Mark Volunteers his time with the Business & IP Centre on two Thursdays every month as the British Library's Inventor in Residence, helping over 1,000 aspiring innovators with their inventions.

Speakers for Monday 30th September:

1. Alexandra Forsythe is an experienced Threat Intelligence Analyst in London, working in the field of cyber threat intelligence (CTI). AF has developed an educational platform exploring retail, fashion, and cyber security through the lens of podcasts, blogs, events, presentations and so much more, with the hope to offer guidance, and build a community equipped with knowledge about cyber threat trends and risks within the threat landscape.

2. Brook Tate has developed a programme of learning “numbers” through colours. Targeting those who are not “naturally numerate”, including those identified as requiring SEN’s, Brook’s approach has been endorsed by teaching academics. He will present his methods and will be seeking feedback.

3. James Harries is developing equipment for removing sludge from Petro-chemical tanks. He is in the design phase with a filed patent and will be seeking finance for getting to the next phase.
