Description

There are different forms of Qi Gong (Qi is pronounced “chi”), just as there are different forms of dance or martial arts. Yuan Qi Gong from the Ren Xue system is the form I teach. I've tried other approaches, but this is by far my favorite. It's so gentle and powerful at the same time. Some people call Qi Gong moving meditation, because in the first four methods we make slow, flowing movements, which can resemble Tai Chi. The practice of Qi Gong promotes mental, emotional and physical health. Come and experience the benefits!

I'll be offering a session of 12 introductory classes in which we'll practice Yuan Qi Gong methods 1 and 2, along with several related exercises. In the last class, I'll also introduce method 3. These Zoom classes will be a mix of: method practice, guided meditations, theory with a Power Point and question and answer periods. The classes are light, joyful and relaxing.

You don't need to be in great physical shape to take part. Everyone is encouraged to listen to their bodies. Methods can easily be adapted for those with physical limitations.

Registration for this session gives you access to the members' section of Laurence's website, which contains practice videos that you can use during the class and afterwards, once it's over.

To register for the session, you must first take part in the free trial course, which contains important information.

Schedule

Series of 12 one-hour classes from Thursday, September 19 to December 12, 2024.

  • Eastern Time Zone: noon
  • Central Time Zone: 11am
  • Mountain Time Zone: 10am
  • Pacific time : 9am

Please note that there will be no class on September 26th.



Zoom link

The Zoom link will be sent to you 24 hours before the first lesson and again 1 hour before. We will then always use the same Zoom link.



Cancellation policy

Cancellation before the course begins: full refund less $10 administration fee and Eventbrite fees.

No refund once the session has begun.

I am aware that Yuan Qi Gong has been designed to be a safe and effective modality for health and well-being, but that it also has its limitations. I understand that Yuan Qi Gong is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment. I agree to assume the safety and responsibility of my participation in these classes. I fully understand and accept these conditions and release Laurence Mercier from all liability.



About Laurence

I have a PhD in engineering from McGill University, where my research focused on image-guided neurosurgery. I then worked in a corporate environment for a few years, and it was there that my passion for teaching meditation was born in 2013, when I started offering lunchtime classes to my colleagues.

In March 2014, I made a big shift and decided to leave the world of engineering research to teach mindfulness meditation full time! A few months later, I completed my certification as a meditation teacher at the McLean Meditation Institute in Arizona. Since 2014, I’ve been teaching mindfulness to the general public, in corporations, government offices, hospitals, libraries, schools, and more.

In 2022, I added another string to my bow and became a Ren Xue Qi Gong teacher. I am a passionate and enthusiastic teacher. My approach is flexible and gentle, adapting to the needs of each individual.
