Storytelling is an important part of the connection between people’s lives and their communities.
There are many reasons storytelling is beneficial.
• It can cultivate empathy and compassion
• Boosts listening skills and fosters imagination
• It maintains historical perspectives
• Storytelling fosters a connection with others with similar experiences
• Different topics provide a variety of storytelling opportunities
When we talk about events, characters, themes, feelings, and ideas, we are using storytelling techniques daily. Just by telling stories and listening to stories we are doing something good for ourselves and the people around us. Sharing can be a positive way of connecting and bringing meaning to our daily lives by fostering community.
