About this Event
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Discover the world of zines with District Riso in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop celebrating self-expression, storytelling, and DIY publishing. You’ll be introduced to the history and creative culture of zines, small self-made booklets that have long been used to share art, ideas, personal stories, and community voices.
During the workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of zine-making and get an introduction to Risograph printing, a unique process known for its vibrant colors, layered textures, and playful handmade feel. Participants will explore several one-page folding techniques, then design their own original zine using markers, pencils, collage materials, and guided prompts for inspiration.
Whether you want to create something personal, political, poetic, or purely playful, this class offers space to experiment and make something entirely your own. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and creativity.
After the workshop, your completed design will be professionally printed at District Riso’s home studio, and you’ll receive 10 copies of your finished zine to keep, share with friends, trade with fellow artists, or add to your creative portfolio.
