Want to make your own greeting cards with beautifully written message ? Join me at Abbot house for a 2.5 hours workshop where you will learn the essentials of modern calligraphy using a pointed pen and ink.
Calligraphy is the perfect way to get yourself back into the present moment, away from mental chatter. Calligraphy requires a deep focus and slow movements to place the right amount of pressure to obtain the thick and thin strokes forming each letters.
No calligraphy experience necessary for this workshop, you will learn everything to get you started on your calligraphy journey.
You'll start by learning the essentials to get you started with modern calligraphy :
- how to prepare the nib and hold the pointed pen and paper for comfort,
- the basic strokes used to form letters,
- practising writing the alphabet,
- joining letters to form words,
- practise writing festive phrases before moving onto your final project writing your very own greeting card
- how to make your own ink.
All materials are provided and include the following:
- workbook with practice sheets, templates and guidelines
- pointed pen + nib + ink jar with black ink
- blank card an envelope
- gift tag
- Tea/coffee and sweet treats
No experience in calligraphy needed. The class is suitable for beginners as you will be guided through to the essentials of modern calligraphy with demonstrations. I will also provide you with one-to-one tuition.
The workshop is suitable for complete beginners and it doesn't require neat handwriting or drawing skills. As we will be working with ink, we recommend not wearing your best clothes.
