Join portrait artist and Base resident Ellie Kerr-Smiley to learn the basics of painting with oil paints.
What to Expect:
The workshop will cover and introduction to the technical rules of using oil paints as well as how to apply these skills to start.
What to bring/wear:
All materials are provided.

This introduction will give a grounding in the basics of oil painting. You will learn the techniques, rules and application required to make a start building your skills and confidence.
Who is your tutor:
Ellie is a portrait artist with a focus on the depiction of women but also extends her subjects to pets and things that inspire her. Ellie works in both acrylics and oils and is a big believer in not needing expensive items to create art. She paints on paper, plywood or occasionally found materials. Ellie's main philosophy is to just create, no matter what. Ellie is a Base resident artist and alongside commission work, Ellie teaches all ages from her studio at The Base, in schools and at local venues.
