Introduction to Nature Journaling with Alex Boon

In this one-day introduction to nature journaling, artist and author Alex Boon will show you some fundamentals of nature journaling with fun prompts and exercises that are suitable for anybody, including total beginners!

After meeting at Studio KIND, we will start with a simple sketchbook and pencil and a sketching walk outdoors. Prompts will be provided to ease you into sketching and writing your nature observations. You may bring your own sketchbook if you prefer though an A5 Seawhite sketchbook will be provided for you to keep. An A4 full-colour illustrated nature journaling guide will also be provided for you to keep and use as reference.

We hope for a picnic lunch outside, weather permitting (bring packed lunch?). After lunch, we will return to the studio to work the morning’s observations into a page (or more!) of paintings and writing. A pool of art materials will be available for you to use, though you are welcome to bring your own. Tuition will focus on the use of Derwent Inktense pencils and waterbrushes (all materials provided for you to try).
