with Julianna TakacsFor anyone wanting to start, tune up, or deepen their meditation practice.
Over 6 months, learn and explore the three stages of meditation: concentration (dharana) contemplation (dhyana) and absorption (samadhi). In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of a meditation practice which can be applied across traditions. You will learn various techniques such as breath, mantra, visualization, guided, moving, and seated meditation in relationship with each of the three stages. Each class will have time for explanations, questions, and meditation practice. The course is cumulative, beginning with learning how to sit quietly and still for just a few minutes and culminating in a 30-minute group sit.
Homework includes building a daily meditation practice and reading The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh and Real Happiness by Sharon Salzburg.
Class meets Sundays, Nov. 3rd, Dec. 8th, Jan. 12th, Feb. 9th, March 16th and April 6th, 10:45 - 12 pm.
