Introduction to Hunting Knives with Matthew Parkinson
About this Event
Students can expect to forge and finish one hidden tang hunting knife with a 4-inch to 6-inch blade. Topics covered will include working with high-carbon steel, knife design, techniques for forging a blade to shape, grinding, finishing, heat treating, fitting a guard, attaching a handle and sharpening. This is an introductory class covering a more complex knife design than our single day Introduction to Bladesmithing class.
You must be 18 years or older to attend this class.
Refund Policy: Students who withdraw from a class up to two weeks before the class are eligible for a full refund less any transaction fees.
Additional Information:
- The class breaks for an hour lunch. You are welcome to bring your lunch or plan to grab something at one of the many local lunch spots. The instructor will be able to assist. Also, plan to bring a water bottle - classes are physically demanding.
- Wear appropriate clothing, preferably cotton, and close toed leather shoes or boots.
- Safety glasses will be provided. Gloves are available but not recommended.
