Cooking for Life: A Cancer-Support Culinary Experience
Join us for a fun and interactive cooking class demonstrating low-fat, whole-food, plant-based cooking — a powerful, evidence-backed tool in helping to prevent and survive cancer. Through live demonstration, you'll learn how to create healthy, delicious, and beautifully prepared dishes, followed by a full tasting so you can experience the flavors for yourself.
This class is part of the Food for Life program from the , a nutrition education series proven to help improve health outcomes through plant-based eating.
As a special guest, Farmer Pete from Fairgate Farms — an urban farm right here in Stamford, CT — will join us with a huge basket of fresh, farm-grown produce, which we'll raffle off to one lucky attendee. Pete will also share how Fairgate Farms serves as a resource for the Stamford community, including the fresh produce and a pay-what you -can policy.
You'll leave with new skills, and printed recipes to recreate at home — plus a chance to win a fresh produce basket from Fairgate Farms.

Meet Your Instructor
Maddie Sobel has been a Food for Life Instructor since 2010. After a lifetime of debilitating asthma, Maddie embraced a lfwfpb diet and turned her health around. Her improved health enabled her to successfully train for and complete her first full marathon in October 2010, two days after her 61st birthday. Two days later, Maddie trained with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine as a Food for Life Instructor. . Since 2010, Maddie has taught The Cancer Project and other Food for Life programs in Vermont, New York and at The Tully Health Center in Stamford, CT in conjunction with The Bennett Cancer Center since 2014.
