Introduction to Furniture Upcycling

Got a piece of furniture you love but don’t quite know what to do with? This friendly, hands-on workshop is a great introduction to furniture upcycling, led by local maker Sue Jefferson of PoppySue Kitchen and Furniture Transformations.

Over three and a half relaxed hours, including half an hour for lunch, Sue will share the basics of upcycling furniture; from preparation and simple repairs through to finishes and creative ideas. It’s all about building confidence, learning by doing, and seeing the potential in what already exists. This is a small group session (maximum 6 people), so there’s plenty of time for questions, guidance and trying things out at your own pace. No prior experience needed.

• Simple prep and finishing techniques
• Tips, tools and common mistakes to avoid
• How to get started at home with confidence

• These workshops are aimed at adults. You will need to be 18 or over to attend.
• Unless otherwise specified, all materials will be provided by us.
• Refreshments such as tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
• Lunch is not provided, please bring along something for lunch. We have a fridge to store your lunch safely.
• Due to the content of some of our activities, you will be required to undertake a Health and Safety briefing before the start of the session. You may be required to wear PPE, such as face shields and gloves. This will be provided by us.
• Please wear activity appropriate clothing and footwear when visiting us.
