Overview: This beginner level training introduces core principles and clinical applications of dance/movement therapy, emphasizing how movement can support psychological healing. Participants will explore mind-body integration to deepen emotional awareness and enhance self-regulation. The curriculum highlights somatic awareness and body-based cues as tools for trauma processing and recovery. Practical techniques including grounding, reflection, and movement-based interventions will be taught for integration into therapeutic practice.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. By the end of the training, participants will be able to identify and explain at least three foundational principles of dance/movement therapy and describe one clinical application for each.
2. Within the training session, participants will demonstrate at least two mind-body integration techniques that support emotional awareness and regulation during a guided practice.
3. By completion, participants will apply at least two somatic awareness strategies to a case example involving trauma, documenting how body-based cues inform therapeutic intervention.
About the Instructor:
Emily Goodman is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist with twelve years of experience supporting adults, youth, and families. Her work integrates movement, mindfulness, and creative expression to foster meaningful, accessible therapeutic change through a trauma-informed, humanistic, and strengths-based lens. She specializes in grief, complex trauma, attachment, autism spectrum disorder, and body-based approaches, while remaining attentive to identity, systemic oppression, and the importance of decolonizing therapy.
Course Completion Requirements:
Participants must attend the entire course and complete a course evaluation to receive CE credit.
