Earthwork Music Collective believes in the intrinsic power of music to raise both community and self-awareness. Comprised of musicians, teachers, healers, farmers, water protectors, and community organizers, they encourage cooperation and collaboration, using music as a tool to serve, heal, inspire and empower. This monthly series features members from all around MI converging to create cosmic collabs, cultivate lasting relationships with our community, and elevate environmental and social justice movements.Audra Kubat has released 7 albums to critical acclaim in a career that spans over 30 years. Her methods of composition articulate grace and uncover hidden places that defy easy categorization. An offering of stark and beautiful reality that possesses experience yet embraces the whimsical. Her activism in the arts has helped her develop strong relationships with community organizations across the region. Audra stewards an intimate listening space, hosting events on the first floor of her home, Detroit House of Music. She works as ECE Specialist for the DSO and produces workshops for the DIA, using songwriting as a conduit between visual art and the public. Kubat also works in Detroit Public Schools where she uses music to build new connections to learning.
Over the past twenty years, Graham Parsons has become a fixture in the greater Michigan and Midwest music scene as an organizer of Farm Block festival, as an accompanist for regional luminaries Chris Bathgate, Elisabeth Pixley-Fink, and the Antivillains, and most prominently as the long-time leader and vocalist of Kalamazoo group, The Go Rounds. Carrying a reputation of “Band’s Band”, The Go Rounds have created a living legacy over their 15 year history. For this rare solo performance, Graham will be reaching back across the years of The Go Rounds’ repertoire, sharing brand new songs, as well as reinterpreting some of his favorites from artists who have shaped his musical world.
Saltbreaker and Yali Rivlin craft immersive instrumental soundscapes featuring ambient guitar, saxophone, and live looping. Their collaborative sets blend atmosphere and melody into a spacious, cinematic listening experience.
