Experience the contemplative heart of the Christian tradition—prayer of the heart, stillness, and direct encounter with the Divine. In this one-hour introduction, Matthew Boyd, C.Ht, guides you through essential practices (Lectio/meditative scripture, breath prayer, silent contemplation) and the energetic posture that opens the soul to grace.

For centuries, Christian mystics have described a way of knowing God that goes beyond concepts—simple, interior, and luminous. This evening is your doorway into that living stream.

You’ll learn how to:

• Quiet the mind and rest in prayer of the heart (hesychasm/“be still and know”)
• Use breath prayer and a sacred word to slip into silence
• Hold an energetic posture of humility, receptivity, and love
• Integrate mystical practice with daily life—clarity, compassion, courage

“I’m not religious.”This is an experiential class in contemplative practice. No doctrine to adopt—just methods for stillness and interior peace.

“I don’t know much about the Bible.”Perfect. We’ll use short, universal passages and a simple approach to contemplation.

“Will this conflict with my beliefs?”We honor your path. The session is invitational, not prescriptive—take what serves, leave the rest.

“I struggle to quiet my mind.”That’s why we practice. You’ll receive simple structures that make silence accessible—even for busy, thinking minds.
