Explore Japanese stitch and mending techniques at your own pace in this relaxed, open studio-style session led by Pip Steel, the curator of Boro – Timeworn Textiles of Japan.
Using a selection of recycled fabrics, threads, and visual references connected to the exhibition, you can experiment with layering, patching, and repair techniques, all key elements of traditional boro.
Pip will be on hand to offer guidance and demonstrate simple stitching methods.
No prior experience is needed, and all materials will be provided. Come along to try something new, connect with others, and gain confidence with needle and thread.
