Introduction to Basket Weaving, a hands-on Workshop at Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica, CA.

Come spend a few hours with us and create your very own handmade basket to take home. This introductory course will provide the basic skills needed to begin basketmaking. Don't miss this opportunity to unleash your creativity and learn a new skill! All materials and tools to create a small reed basket that measures 4 x 4 inches will be provided in this workshop. These skills can be built upon in future workshops.

About Workshop Instructor Linda Tapscott
Menlo Park, CA based artist, Linda Tapscott, has been honing her skills as a basket maker for the past several years. Originally a mixed-media artist, she blends her interest in fiber art, natural materials, and upcycling with basket sculpture. Moving from 2D to 3D has been an exciting process for Linda.

Tapscott has exhibited her artwork throughout the Bay Area, including the Sanchez Art Center 50|50 Show in 2017 and 2023. Through her membership in the Bay Area Basket Makers Guild, she has been able to showcase her work at various galleries and museums. Sanchez Art Center is a vintage1950's elementary school repurposed into a community art center. A comfortable and welcoming space has been established to share art and community.
