Introduction to Acrylic Paint and Ink

In this hands-on class, students will explore the dynamic world of acrylic paint and ink, learning how to combine these versatile mediums to create vibrant, luminous paintings.

The course will cover basic techniques for building an artwork in acrylics. We will start by building a foundation image with acrylic inks, utilizing the inks' fluidity and precision. Then, in the second stage, you will learn to apply acrylic paint in a variety of manners, including dry brushing, scumbling, and glazing.

In addition to the learning to use the paint and inks, students will experiment with using different tools to achieve various visual effects, from bold, graphic lines to subtly painterly textures.

Whether you’re new to these mediums, or looking to expand your current work, this class will help you develop a deeper understanding of acrylics, offering endless possibilities for developing qualities of light in your imagery.

About the instructor: "My name is Sergio "Bellanoche" Martinez (on IG, @_bella.noche_ or https://bellanochemartinezillustration.weebly.com) and I am a private art instructor based out of Springfield. I trained and apprenticed under Niko Chocheli's Atelier (2017-2022) in PA. I have been teaching mixed media painting and drawing in a variety of institutions and privately for 5 years. These mediums I teach include: watercolors, gouache, inks, colored pencils and chalks. My teaching has a focus on both beginners and intermediate artists, I provide personalized instruction tailored to each student's needs and interests, fostering an encouraging environment for artistic exploration and growth.
