Have you recently read Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke?
Did it leave you staring into the middle distance? Did you briefly consider setting something on fire? Did you fling your beautifully crafted hardcover at your spouse’s suspiciously unbothered face? Did you flee into your herb garden in search of inner peace? Did you aggressively punch sourdough while screaming, “WHY” at the heavens? Did you finish the last page and immediately need to talk to someone who understands?
Introducing The Emotional Support Book Club—a pop-up book club created specifically for readers recovering from books that have left them emotionally compromised, sleep-deprived, irrationally angry, and questioning every decision that led them to pick up that novel.
The Emotional Support Book Club meets only when necessary. (In other words, when a new release emotionally devastates enough readers to justify a group intervention.)
AOCB is here for you. In lieu of rioting in the streets, meet us at AOCB at 6:30pm on Sunday, July 19th. We’ll talk our feelings out and get through this…together. (We also have wine and AC, so that helps.)
The Emotional Support Book Club: Literary Life Support- is a free event, but please RSVP so we can make your experience as comfortable as possible!
Want to nominate another book for The Emotional Support Book Club?
To nominate a title, the book must:
Be a new release.
Be actively causing you significant reader distress.
Simply send the following to [email protected] :
A photo of your AOCB receipt for the book.
A brief explanation of why fellow readers need the support, validation, snacks, and emotional processing that only an AOCB book club can provide.
If your book is chosen, you’ll win a book-ish prize PLUS bragging rights
