Intro to Wheel Throwing - 6 Week Course

Ready to dip your toes into the world of wheel thrown pottery? Come learn the basics of wedging, centering, and creating one-of-a-kind vessels in this 6-week course. Students will learn the fundamentals behind throwing cups, vases, and bowls while building confidence and control on the pottery wheel.

Through hands-on instruction and demonstrations, students will practice essential techniques such as pulling walls, shaping forms, and maintaining even thickness. The course will also introduce trimming, basic surface decoration, and glazing, allowing students to finish their pieces and gain a better understanding of the full ceramic process.

Included: One 25 lb bag of mid-range stoneware clay

Materials List

• Basic pottery tool kit
• (needle tool, rib, sponge, trimming tools, wooden tools, wire cutter)
• Apron or studio clothing
• Dust mask or respirator
• (recommended for sanding or working with dry materials)
• Plastic sheeting
• (to cover works in progress)
• Small container for slip and tools
• Sketchbook or notebook
• (for planning and notes)

• A full refund is available up to 7 days before the first class session.
• Cancellations made within 7 days of the start date are eligible for a 50% refund.
• No refunds are issued after the first class meeting.
• Missed classes cannot be refunded or rescheduled.
