Intro to the Metal Lathe
About this Event
The metal lathe is one of the most versatile machines in the shop, capable of removing precise amounts of metal to create round and cylindrical parts. From tool handles, pens, and hardware to pistons, machine components, custom tools, and artistic projects, the lathe is an essential tool for makers, machinists, and fabricators.
This hands-on class will introduce the fundamentals of safely operating the metal lathe in our machine room. Students will learn the machine’s major components, basic setup procedures, and essential cutting techniques needed to begin turning metal with confidence.
