Intro to SUP! A paddleboard lesson in Knaresborough

Join us for a fun and friendly stand-up paddleboarding session on a private, calm and peaceful freshwater lake just outside Knaresborough in North Yorkshire. Whether you're stepping onto a paddleboard for the first time or have paddled before, our sessions are designed to help you build confidence, develop your skills and enjoy being out on the water.
Our sessions are suitable for all abilities, from complete beginners to those who have paddled before, but we have some advisories:
- Aged 16 or over only. Accompanied by a family member on the water if you are under 18.
- Able to swim and feel confident in the water, as you are likely to fall in
- Have sufficient mobility to move from kneeling to standing on the board
You don't need to be an expert paddler, beginners are welcome, as we will introduce you to the equipment, teach you the essential skills and help you feel comfortable and confident on the water. Try not to worry about falling in, as we'll show you what to do if you take an unexpected dip. Getting wet is all part of the fun. Our emphasis is on building confidence, learning new skills and having a great time on the water.
Your session begins with a safety briefing and introduction to your equipment. Depending on ability and the conditions, we will:
- Learn the basic skills of paddleboarding
- Practise getting on and off your board safely
- Learn how to stand, paddle, turn and manoeuvre
- Develop more advanced paddling skills
- Take part in some fun challenges and games
- Learn how to get back on the board if you fall in
Our price includes:
- Lake fee and safe parking
- SUP and buoyancy equipment (unless you have selected to BYO SUP)
- Two hour SUP tuition and instruction
- Toilets and changing facilities
