Now’s your chance to try your hand at one of the world’s oldest crafts.
In this stone carving workshop you’ll be guided by experienced tutor, Tommey, and introduced to the tools, materials, and techniques that have been used by stone carvers for centuries.
Through practical demonstration, you’ll learn how to safely handle chisels and mallets, and develop confidence and control as you practice marking out, roughing out, and refine the carved surfaces.
As the workshop progresses, you’ll explore layout, pattern, and finish, gaining a real sense of this traditional craft skill and you’ll apply these core skills to carve a Kilkenny limestone chess board, suitable for outdoor use.
Our small group size, limited to just 6 participants, guarantees dedicated tutor support as you refine your techniques and by the end of this workshop you’ll have a solid grounding in the basics of stone carving
