A beginner course for those interested in getting on stage and seeking some guidance and encouragement! Emma Jonas pulls from her decade of experience as a comedian to help students access comedy and craft their first five-minute set. This class covers getting started with basic stage techniques, stand up terminology and etiquette, and writing practices. Students will perform on a class show on 11/14. Performers of all experience levels are welcome to this fun, structured, low-pressure course, whether they're looking to get on stage for the first time ever, brush up on the basics, or anything in between.About the Instructor
Emma Jonas is a stand-up comedian of ten years and improviser of seven years whose material spans a wide range of topics, from religion to drugs to dogs to politics to personal anecdotes. She has performed on stages and festivals all over the country, including Portland, Seattle, NYC, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, and even Paris, Texas. She is in charge of programming at Infinity Room and has hosted her game show Truth or Dare Live for 8 years.
