Intro to Pekiti Tirsia Kali: Filipino Martial Arts Class
About this Event
Intro to Pekiti-Tirsia Kali with Guro Zack Garcia
Step into the world of Filipino martial arts with a hands-on introduction to Pekiti-Tirsia Kali, taught by one of the most senior instructors in the system.
Pekiti-Tirsia Kali is a Filipino martial art native to Visayas, known worldwide for its blade and stick fighting. The name comes from the Visayan (Ilonggo) dialect and translates as “to cut into small pieces, up close,” or “close-thirds,” referring to its focus on close-quarters combat.
In this one-hour class, you'll learn some fundamentals and get plenty of hands-on practice. No experience is needed, and all levels are welcome.
What you’ll learn
- Basic footwork and stances
- Fundamental strikes with training sticks
- Simple partner drills
Who it’s for
Everyone. Complete beginners are welcome, and no martial arts experience is needed. If you’ve trained FMA before, it’s a great introduction to the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali system.
