Intro to Musical Improvisation

Taught by Hadas Berkowitz and Matt Martin
Learn to make up songs on the spot, together, without freezing. Over four weeks of classes you will build the core skills of musical improv: keeping a beat, rhyming (and knowing when not to), song structure, singing solo and backing others, dynamics, character, and style. Every session runs with a live accompanist and moves through hands-on games, so you are singing from day one.
The focus is comfort and play, not perfection. You already improvise; here you learn to do it in song. Each week adds tools and a handful of performance games, and the course ends with a showcase where you put it all together in front of an audience.
Classes will be held Sunday afternoons, 3pm to 5pm, October 11th through November 1st with a showcase on November 8th at 7pm.
No music theory or singing experience required.
