Intro to Icon
About this Event
3 hours verified CPD
A hands-on evening exploring how whitening, Icon resin infiltration, and digital workflows can be used to treat early interproximal caries, MIH, fluorosis, and white spot lesions. Participants will also gain practical experience with the iTero Lumina™ intraoral scanner, including hands on scanning and the use of NIRI (Near Infrared Imaging) technology to help identify, treat and monitor early interproximal caries.
Learn a minimally invasive approach to managing white spot lesion. Discover digital whitening workflows and predictable treatment planning to gain successful results
Course aims
To provide clinicians with knowledge and understanding of a minimally invasive approach to the assessment and aesthetic management of molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH), fluorosis, and white spot lesions using whitening, Icon resin infiltration, and digital workflows.
The course will also demonstrate the benefits of incorporating iTero Lumina™ digital scanning into everyday practice, including hands-on experience with scanning workflows and the use of NIRI technology for the detection of early interproximal caries. Delegates will learn how digital diagnostic tools can enhance patient communication, support preventative care, improve treatment acceptance, and enable more comprehensive clinical assessments.
Course objectives
By the end of this hands-on event, participants will have increased knowledge and understanding of:
· The clinical features and assessment of MIH, fluorosis and white spot lesions
· Evidence-based, minimally invasive treatment options and their indications
· The importance of pre-treatment whitening in supporting Icon resin infiltration outcomes
· The benefits of using 3D printed whitening trays over conventional analogue trays
· Participate in a hands-on practical for Icon Vestibular
· Digital scanning using iTero Lumina™
· Identifying early interproximal caries using NIRI technology
Learning outcomes
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate treatment planning options for white spot removal and reduction
- Apply a minimally invasive approach to make improvements for patients who have white marks on their teeth
- Identify appropriate pre-treatment whitening protocols to support aesthetic outcomes
- Describe how digital tools can be used to design and 3D print custom whitening trays
- Perform confident digital scanning using iTero Lumina™
- Identify early interproximal caries using NIRI technology.
