Rosmarie Lohnes is the founder and CEO of Helping Nature Heal Inc., an award-winning ecological restoration company based in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. With over 20 years of experience, Rosmarie has pioneered plant-based restoration techniques that address coastal erosion, protect ecosystems, and empower communities. She holds a B.A. in Conservation and Environmental Studies from York University and is a certified Environmental Professional (EP), with specialized training in architectural design, horticulture therapy, and ecological landscape design.

Rosmarie’s creative practice focuses on using natural systems to solve environmental challenges. Her Shore Up program combines community engagement with sustainable techniques like living shorelines and native plantings to stabilize coastlines and enhance biodiversity. Her work has helped restore habitats for vulnerable species, including the endangered bank swallow, and has spanned numerous projects across Canada(

In recent years, Rosmarie has continued to receive significant recognition for her leadership and impact in ecological restoration. In 2024, Helping Nature Heal was awarded the Eco Canada Best Employer Award for its workplace culture. Rosmarie also received the HB Nicholls Award from Coastal Zone Canada in 2014 for her contributions to coastal management, and the Small Business Excellence Award in 2011. She has been a featured speaker at major events, including Walrus Talks in, where she discussed sustainable design, and most recently, in 2024, she presented at the Nova Scotia Wild Flora Society on Restoring Land Through Nature-Based Strategies.
