Intro to Acrylic Painting 6-week Artist Series
About this Event
Starts January 26th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.)
CLASS DATES: 1/26; 2/2; 2/9; No class on 2/16; then 2/23; 3/2; and 3/9.
Come spend the winter painting, learning, and developing your skills with acrylics. Designed for beginners and those with some previous painting experience, this class will introduce you to the fundamentals of acrylic painting while giving you the opportunity to develop your skills through hands-on painting and individual instruction.
Working primarily from reference images, we’ll explore the essential elements of painting, including color mixing, value, composition, brushwork, edges, layering, and creating the illusion of light and form. Through demonstrations, exercises, and guided painting projects, you’ll learn how to translate a reference image into a successful painting while developing your own approach to the medium.
Each week will build upon the previous lessons, helping you become more comfortable with acrylic paint and more confident in making decisions about color, value, composition, and brushwork.
No previous painting experience is necessary. Whether you’re completely new to painting or simply want to explore acrylics in a supportive studio environment, this class is an opportunity to learn, experiment, and enjoy the process of painting.
Materials are not included in the series price. A list of recommended supplies can be found below the instructor bio.

Instructor bio: Todd Bonita is a professional artist and instructor whose love of painting began growing up in Winthrop, Massachusetts, a small New England harbor town just outside Boston. After graduating from the Art Institute of Boston, Todd continued his studies in classical painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and developed a particular interest in capturing the light, atmosphere, and character of the natural world. Todd's paintings have been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout New England, Canada and the UK and are held in more than a thousand private and public collections globally, including the late U.S. President, George H.W. Bush. His work has been included in four museum exhibitions and has received recognition through juried exhibitions and awards, and his paintings have been featured in publications and other media. Today, Todd teaches painting classes throughout the New England seacoast and a number of annual International workshops and retreats, sharing his experience and enthusiasm for painting with students of all levels. His classes emphasize the fundamentals of painting while encouraging students to develop their own artistic voice and, most importantly, enjoy the process of painting. www.toddbonitagallery.com
