“Careful the things you say…children will listen.”
In just 11 short days, Wagon Wheel Conservatory students in grades 8 through 12 take the stage with a fully realized workshop production of Into the Woods. Directed by Wagon Wheel Professional Theatre alumni and husband-and-wife duo Matthew Janisse and Carolyn Anne Miller, this production brings together young artists for an ambitious and heartfelt theatrical experience.
With a Tony Award-winning book by James Lapine and an unforgettable score by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods weaves together beloved storybook characters in a tale that is as magical as it is meaningful. Cinderella dreams of attending the King’s Festival. Jack hopes his cow will finally give milk. A Baker and his wife long for a child. When a Witch’s curse stands in their way, their journeys intertwine as they venture into the woods to change their fate. But in this richly layered story, wishes don’t come without consequences. What begins as a collection of fairy tales unfolds into a deeper exploration of choices, responsibility, and what it truly means to live “happily ever after.”
