About this Event
A one-day workshop to explore sex and intimacy in both family and couple therapy practice. This will include an invitation to review how comfortable are you talking about sex and intimacy and with whom. We will reflect together on the significance of these important areas, and how to enhance your own clinical practice in this often undertaught area.
- Review a brief history of sexuality in systemic couple therapy
- Reflect on the views of the self of the therapist around sex/intimacy
- Explore how we extend our intersectional perspective in these areas
- Consider the presentations in couple therapy that connect to intimacy
- Reflect on the social constructs, attitudes and changes in sexual practices over time
- Think about where you do and don’t talk about sex and intimacy enough
- This workshop will not provide an in depth exploration of sexual abuse/sexual harm/ sexual exploitation – these important subjects are worthy of separate teaching
- The emphasise of this workshop is on healthy sexual and intimate relationships
