About this Event

Interwoven: Glow in the Park for SOF Teens and Parents

Special Operations Forces Teens and Parents are invited to summon their courage and step out of their comfort zone into an experience that requires courage, patience, teamwork and positive encouragement. Teens (ages 13+) and parents are invited to spend the evening climbing to new heights together at The Adventure Park in Virginia Beach. This physical activity depends upon thoughtful movement and positive communication with your teen/teens. Sharing this fun, outdoor adventure will demonstrate how playfulness strengthens your connection.
Hunting for the Good is an intentional practice designed to train our brain to scan our environment, circumstances, and relationships for things we appreciate. By shifting our focus on what is good about your child, we shift our focus from scarcity to abundance and from complaining to gratitude. While our brain is naturally wired with a negative bias, neuroplasticity allows us to retrain the way we think. We can shift from looking through a lens of negativity to a lens of positivity. Implementing Hunting for the Good can significantly improve the quality of your relationship, communication, and connection.

Program Prerequisite: Hunt for the Good! For the five days preceding this program, parents will keep a list of at least three positive things they notice about their teen/teens each day. Parents will share this list of positive qualities and attributes with their child/children at the Adventure Park.
