About this Event
Interwoven: Connecting Through Cooking for Couples
Special Operation Forces Service Members and Spouses are invited to join The Station Foundation for a seasonal fall cooking workshop at Chef’s Kitchen. Participants will slow down and focus on what it means to nourish their loved ones, engage in conversation, and work together as a team to prepare a delicious meal made from scratch. Share an evening of cooking with your partner while reconnecting and hunting for the good in your relationship.
Have you ever wondered just how hard – or easy – it is to make fresh pasta? Well, it’s certainly worth the effort and takes less time than you probably realize. We will break it all down using foolproof recipes and handmade dough, while teaching straightforward skills that anyone can learn. This special night will be filled with cooking techniques, delicious food, and plenty of laughs along the way. Warm up your whisking wrist and learn to crank authentic Italian pasta – just like Nonna did back in the old country!
Research by relationship expert Dr. John Gottman shows that when you acknowledge and openly discuss positive aspects of your partner and your marriage, your bond is strengthened. We will practice this before and during our cooking class.
Workshop Prerequisite - Hunting for the Good
In a journal or on a piece of paper, write down at least one positive comment about your spouse each day from August 10-20. Record these positive sentiments and things that you appreciate about their character and ways they demonstrate their love and support, etc. Do not share your lists with one another. You will bring this list to the event and share it privately with one another.
