interVivos Presents: A Municipal Affair

Hosted by interVivos, A Municipal Affair is an atypical, non-partisan election forum encouraging respectful conversation and community connection ahead of the municipal election.

More than a debate stage, conversation is led by local voices — sparking engagement and understanding. Reflecting on what Edmontonians care about most, group discussions will include Affordability and Taxes, Safety, Local Economy and Innovation, and Accountability. Attendees will leave not only more informed, but also more connected with their communities.

A Municipal Affair explores our democracy outside of polarizing echo chambers — encouraging curiosity over conflict and dialogue over division. We’re here to prove open, relaxed civil discourse is still possible and powerful in our current political landscape.

Advocating for accessible, community-first political events, interVivos is keeping ticket prices low and using the collected funds to keep our volunteer-run, nonprofit organization strong. Partnering with community organizations to offer free tickets, we believe civic engagement is for everyone.

Doors open at 5:30 PM for optional mingling. Otherwise be there by 6:00 PM sharp—or a bit before—so you don’t miss the start.

Candidates and campaign staff are welcome—as attendees. This isn’t an event to promote platforms.

What to Expect:

• Our speakers will rotate through small groups to share insights and lead open conversations.
• A welcoming, laid-back atmosphere
• Cash bar available; food can be ordered from the menu.

Whether you’re super politically engaged or just curious, this event is for anyone who wants to learn, connect, and be part of the conversation.

• $15 until October 4
• $20 from October 5 to October 8 at 4:30 PM
• $25 at the door (if space permits) — cash, debit, and credit accepted

Attendees will be signing a document when they arrive saying that they understand if they don’t follow these rules, they will be asked to leave the event.
