About the author

Nadia Attia’s fascination with folklore, nature and the supernatural inspires her writing, and with Egyptian-German heritage and a working-class background, she’s drawn to stories that explore otherness and characters who take the path less trodden.

Her debut novel, Verge – a folk-horror-tinged road trip across a harsh rural landscape where people have turned towards ‘the old ways’ of spells and superstitions – was published in 2023 as a lead debut by Serpent's Tail and has been optioned for TV. Nadia is a published film journalist and freelance script editor.

In 2019 she was selected for the London Writers Awards and won the FAB (Faber) prize for fiction. She is currently working on her next novel.
