Cardiovascular Surgical ICU Unit Description:
Our specialized 20-bed Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit provides expert nursing care for patients recovering from complex procedures such as CABG, valve repair or replacement, aneurysm repair, TAVR, ablations, heart transplantation, and the use of advanced mechanical circulatory support devices including the Total Artificial Heart and ECMO. The unit also supports patients undergoing various lung surgeries. Nurses in this unit are highly skilled in managing critically ill patients requiring intensive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, multiple drug infusions, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) therapy, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
• Nurses handle 1-2 patients on this unit based on acuity level.
