Learn to create and publish FAIR, interoperable NetCDF datasets in a hands-on workshop for climate and atmospheric sciences.
About this Event

This hands-on workshop introduces practical approaches to making climate and atmospheric science datasets easier to find, access, integrate, and reuse through shared standards, rich metadata, persistent identifiers, semantic descriptions, and interoperable data-access technologies.

Throughout the workshop, participants will work with multidimensional NetCDF datasets and explore different aspects of interoperability, from data structure and scientific meaning to APIs, data-access protocols, and cloud-native data formats.

This workshop is being delivered as a pilot Carpentries workshop to evaluate newly developed lesson materials and gather feedback from participants. Your feedback will help us refine the lesson for future workshops.

Who should attend?

Researchers who work with, or are interested in working with, multidimensional NetCDF datasets and want to improve the discoverability, interoperability, and reuse of their research data.

Prerequisites

To follow the workshop, participants should have:

  • A working knowledge of Python, including the ability to write and execute short Python scripts.
  • Basic awareness of the NetCDF format.

Please bring your own laptop, as the workshop includes hands-on exercises and practical demonstrations.
