International Guitar Festival - Guitar Series - Classical Series: Dr. Christopher Schoelen is an accomplished performer and the current guitar professor at Northern Michigan University. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, where he studied under the world-renowned guitarist, Eliot Fisk. As an accomplished musician, he has given performances in venues such as Carnegie Hall in NYC, has served as a competition judge, and has conducted master classes at guitar festivals. He has also performed internationally in several countries, including Spain and Italy.This concert will feature works ranging from historical pieces to contemporary compositions for the classical guitar. The program will include a set of premieres of 15 one-minute pieces that were composed for him in the summer of 2024 and selections from his second solo guitar album, Neo: Modernism & the Guitar.
